MultiPlay '97 - v2.0.0 © 1997 Brandon Jones E-mail: jones@gte.net WWW: home1.gte.net/jones/multiplay ------------------------------------------------ IMPORTANT: See the installation notes below before installing MultiPlay. Welcome to MultiPlay '97. MultiPlay is capable of playing any file for which you have a Windows MCI driver installed. Even the most basic Windows 95 or NT system will normally include MCI drivers for .AVI, .MID, and .WAV files. In addition, systems with ActiveMovie for Windows installed usually have MCI drivers for the MPEG format. MultiPlay will work with most MCI drivers. To see which MCI drivers you have installed: 1. Click 'Start', 'Settings', 'Control Panel'. 2. Double-click the Multimedia icon. 3. Click the 'Advanced' tab. 4. Click the '+' next to Media Control Devices. This list shows all of the MCI devices you have installed. (Keep in mind that not all of these devices can necessarily be opened by MultiPlay.) INSTALLATION ------------ NOTE: If you have a previous version of MultiPlay installed, YOU MUST REMOVE IT before installing MultiPlay '97 2.0! Use the Add/Remove Programs icon in Control Panel to remove MultiPlay. It may say that it was unable to remove all components, however this is normal. Once the older version of MultiPlay is removed, continue as shown below. To install MultiPlay, simply run SETUP.EXE. The necessary files will be installed and an icon will be created on your Start Menu. USING MULTIPLAY --------------- MultiPlay's interface is fairly straightforward. So straightforward, in fact, that you'll probably learn to use it faster than reading any instructions I give you! COMMENTS/BUG REPORTS -------------------- For now, MultiPlay is being distributed as freeware. If you use MultiPlay, I am open to any comments or suggestions! Send any comments or bug reports to me at jones@gte.net. VERSION HISTORY --------------- 1.0.0 - Initial release. 1.0.1 - Cosmetic changes. - The initial release had some problems installing on some systems; these have been resolved (hopefully). 2.0.0 - Lots of stuff! - More efficient code, smaller .EXE size all around. - Playlists can now be saved and opened for later use. - There is now a configurable delay between files in the playlist, useful when using MultiPlay to playback files onto tape, where a small pause is needed between files. - Random Play mode has been implemented, which will play files from the playlist in no particular order. - Up/Down arrows have been added to the Playlist mode. This allows you to move individual files up or down within the Playlist. - A Delete option has been added, which, when in Non- Playlist mode allows you to delete those files you just can't STAND to listen to. - You can now double-click the file list to individually add files to the Playlist without having to use the ">" button. - Finally, the current file's length is now reported by MultiPlay in minutes:seconds format, along with the size.
